Meet the Team

Statwolf was founded in 2014 by a group of PhD data scientists with a clear goal in mind: to bridge the gap between state-of-the-art Machine Learning solutions and enterprise tools.

Within our team, a growing group of academic advisors is working to make data science a friendly companion to business executives.
Our leadership team
Simone Pampuri
Chief Executive Officer
Simone Pampuri is in charge of Statwolf’s strategy and business development. Having spent years researching and developing Machine Learning-based software for big companies, Simone understands how to bridge the gap between academic research and business use cases.

His main goal is to give business decision-makers access to the huge advantages of Machine Learning and Big Data Analytics. Simone has a PhD in Computer Science and Machine Learning from the University of Pavia (Italy), and has published many peer-reviewed journals. Before joining the founding team at Statwolf, Simone was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth (NUIM).

He was also a Process Development Researcher and then Advanced Analytics Consultant at Infineon Technologies.

He loves Quentin Tarantino movies, corgi dogs and over-priced protein shakes.
Andrea Schirru
Chief Technology Officer
Andrea is responsible for the technical roadmap and implementation process of the Statwolf platform. As a passionate software developer, he is always looking for ways to make Statwolf even smarter and more efficient. His skills include software architecture, data modelling and server-side software implementation.

After earning a PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Pavia (Italy) in 2011, he held postdoctoral positions there, as well as at the University of Maynooth (Ireland). He was also a Process Development Researcher at Infineon Technologies.

While not working, Andrea enjoys the true pleasures of life – like Irish Angus fillet steak, a glass of Italian wine, and carefully selected company.
Gian Antonio Susto
Chief Data Scientist
Gian Antonio oversees all things related to algorithms and methodologies. He can count on several years’ experience developing Machine Learning-based solutions, from soft sensing and predictive maintenance to advanced analytics, gesture recognition, sentiment analysis and fault detection.
And he can’t stop thinking about the next challenge.

Gian Antonio is a passionate scientific thinker, and earned his PhD in Machine Learning from the University of Galileo Galilei, Padua (Italy). Before joining the founding team at Statwolf, Gian Antonio held visiting positions at the University of California, University of San Diego, National University of Ireland, Maynooth University and Infineon Technologies, and has authored 30 publications in international journals.

Gian Antonio is an all-round good guy, with a weaknesses for Juventus F.C.
